Why I haven’t posted in a while – And why I’m back

2025-02-04

It’s been a few years since my last blog post—2020, to be exact. A lot has changed since then, both personally and professionally. If you’ve followed my journey, you might remember that I used to run my own business. However, during the pandemic, I decided to close up shop and shift to freelance work as a web and print Freelancer. This transition allowed me to take on a variety of smaller projects and support well-established marketing departments in ways I never could have while managing my own company. It also gave me the opportunity to downscale and offer value to smaller businesses and, thankfully, due to that support, I’ve created some lifelong clients.

To be honest, I haven’t really missed blogging because, for a long time, I felt like I had nothing new to say. But that’s changed. Now, I do.

The Shift to Freelancing & Consulting for web and print

When I started freelancing, I realized that my previous title—graphic and web developer—no longer fully described what I do. Over the past five years, my role has expanded to encompass many aspects of business media, marketing, and branding. It only made sense to reframe my work under a new title: Digital & Print Media Specialist.

Through freelancing, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, in industries like software, real estate, entertainment, community and religious organization, and food service. Unlike running a business, freelancing has allowed me to focus the majority of my time on helping clients rather than managing daily operations.

One of the biggest advantages of this shift has been my ability to collaborate with a network of other freelancers and contractors. I’ve always preferred this model over working within departments in a large corporation. It fosters creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving in a way that’s often lost in traditional business structures. I firmly believe the future of this industry belongs to independent contractors—specialists who can step in, think outside the box, and provide fresh perspectives that full-time staff, that have other priorities, may not be able to offer.

Why I’m Blogging Again

Over the years, I’ve built numerous websites for clients, and I always strive to create platforms that allow them to take an active role in managing and updating their sites. However, I’ve noticed a common challenge: a knowledge gap. Many business owners and professionals lack the technical expertise to confidently maintain their web presence, optimize their content, or leverage their sites for business growth.

That’s where this blog comes in.

I want to use this space to educate and empower my clients—and anyone else looking to take control of their digital presence.

I want to use this space to educate and empower my clients—and anyone else looking to take control of their digital presence. My goal is to bridge the gap between professional web development, graphic design, and marketing by providing actionable insights, tools, and knowledge that help businesses thrive online.

Additionally, my time away from blogging has allowed me to embrace my more creative side. Moving forward, you’ll see more of my personality, hobbies, and interests woven into my posts. For years, I thought this blog needed a singular focus, but in today’s influencer culture, showcasing who you are can be just as valuable as what you do. By embracing my individuality, I hope to connect more authentically and inspire others to do the same.

What to Expect Moving Forward

From here on out, you can expect content that demystifies web development, breaks down graphic design principles, and explores marketing strategies that can make a real difference. Whether you’re a business owner, a freelancer, or just someone looking to improve your online presence, my posts will aim to give you the confidence and skills to take control of your website and maximize its potential.

I don’t know how often you’ll see me here, but I’ll ensure to keep you updated on the most important, useful, and interesting things I come across.

So, if you’ve ever felt like managing your website is overwhelming or that you’re missing out on its full potential, stick around. I’ll be sharing tips, insights, and practical advice to help you navigate the digital landscape with confidence.

It’s good to be back!
