Introduction
As a WordPress web developer, I’ve built numerous custom Divi Builder websites and provided ongoing support to help clients manage their sites with confidence. While many appreciate Divi’s intuitive visual builder, mistakes are inevitable—and that’s okay! Fortunately, Divi offers powerful tools to undo, restore, and prevent errors, ensuring nothing is ever lost
For those who prefer WordPress’ standard builder, that’s always an option, and I can help determine the best approach based on your needs—whether you want a fully managed site or the flexibility to make updates yourself.
This post is the first in a series designed to provide practical tips, best practices, and quick fixes for website management using the Divi Builder. Let’s kick things off with Divi’s best features for undoing mistakes, ranked by my favorites!
1. Undo & Redo in One Click
Divi makes it easy to undo mistakes instantly with Ctrl + Z (Windows) / Cmd + Z (Mac). Need to bring something back? Just use Ctrl + Shift + Z. You can also click the undo/redo buttons at the bottom of the Divi Builder for quick fixes.
This simple yet powerful feature ensures you can experiment freely without worrying about making irreversible changes.
2. Copy & Paste for Instant Fixes

If you’re making changes but want to keep a backup of your work, simply right-click and copy a module before editing. If things don’t go as planned, you can paste it back in with one click!
This feature works for:
- Modules
- Rows
- Sections
- Even styles (Copy & Paste Module Styles)
It’s a great way to quickly restore your design without having to dig into the editing history.
3. Use Divi’s Editing History Panel

Divi automatically tracks your editing history, allowing you to restore any previous version of your design with a single click.
How to Access it:
- Click the clock icon at the bottom of the Divi Builder. ⏰
- Browse through your recent edits.
- Click on any previous action to restore it instantly.
- This feature gives you the freedom to experiment without worrying about losing progress!
4. Save Your Work with Custom Layouts

To avoid unnecessary rework, save your favorite designs to Divi’s Library so you can reload them anytime and keep your workflow smooth.
How to Save a Layout:
- Click the Save to Library icon on any section.
- Name your layout and access it anytime under Divi Library.
This feature is perfect for reusing elements across multiple pages, maintaining a consistent design, and quickly restoring sections that may have been accidentally deleted.
5. Enable Auto-Saves & Revisions
Divi and WordPress both have built-in auto-save and revision features that work in the background to protect your work.
How It Works:
- Divi automatically saves your work at regular intervals.
- WordPress revisions store previous versions of a page or post.
- If you accidentally close the page or lose internet connection, Divi will restore the latest saved version when you reopen it.
How to Access Revisions:
- Open the WordPress page or post editor.
- Look for the Revisions section on the right panel.
- Click to browse previous versions and restore as needed.
This extra layer of security ensures that even if you forget to manually save, your work isn’t lost!
Final Thoughts
Divi offers a range of powerful features that make website editing safe, efficient, and stress-free. Whether you’re making small tweaks or major design changes, these tools ensure you never lose progress and can easily revert mistakes.
By mastering these five Divi editing features, you can work with confidence, knowing that every change is reversible and every design element can be restored.
