“Photoshopping” skills from 1946

2017-10-10

My industry in many ways has gotten easier than it’s ever been in recorded history. Computers complete tasks in lightening speed, where it would once take days and weeks to do the same thing. The one thing that has gotten worse, however, is client expectations are often times unrealistic, since there is an exageratted idea of the timing and professional skill needed to bring a design project to life.

I found this posting online recently that gave me a glimpse into my industry before the computer revolution. I love how hands on these professionals used to be, and how much more artistic their job looks. I used to wonder why so many pictures from the forties and fifties looked a bit cartoonish, but I totally get it now.

How photographers “photoshopped” their pictures in 1946
