Sevens Creative it: Building Vectorvault.com — A Home for Human-Crafted Digital Art

2025-07-08

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to redevelop Vectorvault.com, the official website of Toronto-based digital artist Adam Jarvis. The site now acts as a central platform for his work, showcasing a growing collection of vector artwork and digital collectibles.

This was more than just a creative portfolio. It was a personal project with deep meaning for the client, and every decision reflected that.

A Clear Purpose from the Start

Vectorvault.com was built with a strong sense of purpose. The site exists to highlight Adam’s human-crafted vector artwork in a world where AI-generated images are becoming more common. His tagline, “No AI art. Ever,” is not just a statement. It’s a position, and the website had to reflect that clearly.

In addition to his artwork, the site also connects visitors to his NFT collections, blog content, merchandise, and external platforms like OpenSea and Behance. It needed to serve both new visitors and longtime fans, guiding each one smoothly through the content.

Built on WordPress with Room to Grow

We chose WordPress multisite for this build. It gave us the flexibility to structure future sub-brands under one main back-end with the freedom to keep each site on a different domain. That made it easier to keep everything consistent, while still allowing each section to evolve in its own way.

This setup also made content management straightforward. My goal was to give the client the tools to update the site on his own without needing to edit code or rely on complex plugins.

A Simple Design That Keeps the Focus on the Work

The creative direction was clear: keep things clean, balanced, and intentional. We used a limited palette of black, white, and red to keep the attention on the artwork. Typography was selected for readability, and the layout was designed to feel organized but never stiff.

The homepage serves as a hub. From there, users can access the shop, blog, and featured collections. Each area of the site has its own focused navigation to avoid clutter and confusion. Whether someone lands on the main page or deep inside a blog post, the experience is still intuitive.

A Collaborative Process

Working with a client who is also a designer meant that details mattered. It was a collaborative effort, with lots of communication and shared decision-making. Rather than rushing to launch, we worked steadily toward a version that matched his standards and felt complete.

That collaboration also extended into SEO, structure, and training. I offered guidance on metadata, post formatting, and image optimization to make sure the site was not only beautiful but also practical.

Functionality That Works Behind the Scenes

Although the front end is clean and minimal, there is a lot happening under the hood. Some key features include:

  • WordPress multisite architecture for growth
  • WooCommerce integration with customized layout and language
  • Dynamic archive pages and smart blog indexing
  • Lightweight performance optimizations
  • Tailored admin tools for easier updates
  • The entire backend is designed for long-term use, making it easier to expand and adjust as the brand evolves.

Looking Back

One of the biggest lessons from this project was the value of patience and planning. By approaching the build step by step, we created something that can grow without needing to be reworked from the ground up.

It also reminded me how important it is to listen closely to what the client wants. Sometimes the best work comes from asking the right questions and then stepping back to make space for their vision.

Final Thoughts

Vectorvault.com is a reflection of both the client’s artistic journey and my approach to thoughtful web development. It’s built to last, with a solid framework and flexible design that can evolve with time.

I’m proud of how it turned out, and even more excited to see where the client takes it next.
